PEDAGOGICAL CONCEPT

The crèche of the University Fribourg can be attended by children from 4 months to the age of entry to infant school. There are 53 places available every day, divided into 4 groups.

• 2 groups of children from 4 months to 3 years old (12 children per group per day)
• 1 group of children from 4 months to 5 years old (12 children per day)
• 1 group of children from 3 to 5 years old (15 children per day)

Only children whose parents study or work at the University of Fribourg are accepted. Siblings of children who already attend the crèche, have priority. Our partners NCCR, EPFL Fribourg and FKB subsidise a certain number of childcare places in our crèche for their employees.

The children speak different languages and belong to a wide variety of cultures.

The team speaks Swiss German with the children.

The crèche is managed by two women directors.

Each group is under the responsibility of early childhood educators, but also of qualified child school teachers, supported by trainees and interns. The course of the day and management of the group is organized by the educator, provided that the pedagogical concept is respected. 

The small number of children per group guarantees optimal care, as well as an adequate training for trainees and interns. The crèche is also a place of training.

When a child is admitted to the crèche, his parents automatically become members of the association "Crèche of the University Fribourg". Each family has a vote at the association's general assembly, thus encouraging sharing of responsibilities with the staff and active participation in the organization of the crèche. In addition, four parents' representatives - elected by the assembly - are members of the committee, in order to encourage maximum collaboration between parents and educators.

A structured day guarantees a feeling of security:

The average cost of a place in a crèche in the city of Fribourg amounts to CHF 117.70 per day, after deduction of the state/employer share and the tax return.

The parents' contributions are fixed according to their income, based on the rates in force in all the city's crèches.

Parents are responsible to insure their children against illness and accidents.
